Tool slots and refills
- Pick tools at the Mechanic. The same tool can go in more than one slot, up to the number you own, so you can carry at most 3 repair kits and only 1 jack.
- Using a tool empties its slot. Tools you place (jack, portable winch, planks, camp) are only used up once you confirm the spot.
- Empty slots refill when you reach the Mechanic, when you pull into a cabin, and when you respawn at a cabin.
- The 3 Tool Slot upgrades cost 25, 50 and 75 pebbles, 150 in all, and each needs the one before it. Like every upgrade, they belong to the vehicle you bought them for.
Which tool for which problem
- Upside down or wedged in place: the Portable Jack sets you back on your wheels a few metres away. You own only one, so it is worth saving.
- Stuck with nothing to winch onto: the Portable Winch gives you an anchor anywhere in winch reach. Longer winch upgrades let you place it further out.
- A gap, a ditch or soft ground: the planks make a short bridge or a grippy track.
- Badly damaged: a Repair Kit fixes one vehicle completely, yours or a teammate's. The camp repairs every vehicle in the session, but only by 25 health.
- Bad weather or a dark night: the bell clears the sky at once. It does nothing about the dark; the camp skips 12 hours, which gets you past both.
- Short of pebbles: the Meteorite Radar points to the nearest landed meteorite, the one source of pebbles that never runs out.
Meteorites
- An area has 2 or 3 meteorites at a time. The first ones are already on the ground when you arrive.
- Once one has been pulled out, a new one is lined up within 10 seconds. It falls 1 to 5 minutes later at a random map spot.
- Each spot is used once per visit: Emerald Lake 34, Gimli Ridge 31, Asgard Mountain 51, Tassili n'Ajjer Desert 48, Aurès Mountains 48. When an area runs out, no more fall until you go through a portal or load the area again.
- To pull one out, hook on as many winches as its size needs, one per vehicle. It comes out after 8 seconds of pulling, counted only while every rope is tight and no two ropes are more than 120° apart.
- The pebbles are split between everyone who had a winch on it and anyone else within 10 m, rounded up. Bigger meteorites fall when more players are in the session, so each player's share only drops a little.

Common questions
How do I get more tools in over the hill?
You cannot buy or find any. Every tool is in your inventory from the start. What you can buy is Tool Slot upgrades, so a vehicle carries more of them at once. A used slot refills at the Mechanic or a cabin.
How many tools can I carry?
One per tool slot: 1 slot at first, up to 4 after the three Tool Slot upgrades (150 pebbles in all). Several slots can hold the same tool, up to how many you own: 3 repair kits, portable winches, planks and radars, but only 1 jack, camp tool and bell.
Does camping repair my vehicle?
A little. Camping repairs every vehicle in the session by 25 of 100 health and skips 12 in-game hours. A repair kit repairs one vehicle to full.
How do meteorites work?
Each area holds 2 or 3 meteorites at a time. When one is pulled out, another falls 1 to 5 minutes later. Hook enough winches on and pull for 8 seconds. They pay 15 to 80 pebbles split between the players who helped, and they are the only pebbles that never run out.
How many players does a meteorite need?
Small ones need one winch; the biggest needs 4, one per vehicle. More players in a session means bigger meteorites fall, so each share stays about the same.
Does the meteorite radar find falling meteorites?
No. It only points to the nearest meteorite already on the ground, at any distance.
